18 January – Eni and Gazprom create South Stream AG, with the aim of completing the technical feasibility study for the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline.
26 February - Eni and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) sign an important agreement in Cambridge (Massachusetts) for cooperation in energy research aimed at the development of advanced solar technologies.
May – After an international competition, Indonesia awards Eni a new exploration block.
6 October – Eni promotes the creation of a new permanent chair: the “Enrico Mattei Chair in Middle Eastern and African studies” at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in the US.
6 November – The Eni Energy Store chain is launched in Italy, with over 200 outlets across the country.
10 November – At the Donegani research centre in Novara, Eni and the Turin Polytechnic sign a framework agreement for technological research activities.
9 December – Following the 25th Oil and Gas Licensing Round, promoted by the British Department of Energy and Climate Change, Eni is awarded to hydrocarbon production licences.
December - Eni comes top in the H&H Webranking list, as the best European site for online financial communication.
