January - Eni redefines the mission of the Donegani Institute, making it a centre of research for the development of technologies in the area of non-conventional energy such as solar power and biomass. The name was also changed to “Centro Ricerche per le Energie Non Convenzionali - Istituto Eni Donegani”.
7 March – Eni and the Brazilian company Petrobras sign a Memorandum of Understanding in Brasilia.
24 April - In Ceyhan, in Turkey, the official ceremony is held for the laying of the foundation stone of the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TAP), the oil pipeline that will connect the Turkish Black Sea coast to its coast on the Mediterranean.
15 May - Eni presents its national Energy Efficiency, which provides 24 simple suggestions for reducing household energy consumption by up to 30%.
28 June – In Paris, Eni signs an agreement with Altergaz for the acquisition of a significant stake in the company.
6 September – Eni is included in the DJSI World (Dow Jones Sustainability World Index), the leading and most prestigious international stock exchange-based index for the evaluation of corporate social responsibility.
1 October –Eni Trading & Shipping S.p.A., the Eni subsidiary that brings together the group’s trading and shipping activities for crude oil and petroleum products becomes operational.
November – On the occasion of the 20th World Energy Congress, Eni presents two new initiatives: the Eni Award the Encyclopaedia of Hydrocarbons (l'Enciclopedia degli idrocarburi).
