March – Eni was awarded an exploration and operator’s permit by Ireland in the North Sea.
March – Eni signed an agreement with the National Iranian Oil Company, NIOC, to develop the giant Dorood oil field situated in the offshore area of Kharg island, in the Persian Gulf.
June – A pre-unification agreement was signed with Enterprise Oil Spa for the Trend 1, including the Grumento Nova, Caldarosa and Volturino permits in the Val D’Agri.
23 November – An agreement was signed in Moscow to draw up plans for the Ruwais refinery.
December – In the United States, Eni acquired the Europa and Marcaroni fields, situated in the offshore area of the Gulf of Mexico, in order to increase production and hydrocarbon reserves.
Eni signed an agreement with the Qatar state-owned General Petroleum Co. Ltd. to carry out a feasibility study into the construction of a TDI plant using Eni technology.
Eni concluded an agreement with Russian company Gazprom as part of the Blue Stream project to transport natural gas along a gas pipeline from the Russian Federation coast to the Turkish coast in the Black Sea.
