14 January - The Seagap Consortium (Phillips, Agip, Getty and Hispanoil) signed an agreement with the Ivory Coast government for the exploration and development of hydrocarbons.
May – Two new plants for the production of nitric acid and ammonium nitrate were constructed in the Ravenna complex.
June – Agip Nucleare purchased 114 tons of uranium from the French company, Uranex.
9 July – A ten-year agreement was signed with the Libyan government for the production of hydrocarbons from the Bu Attifel deposits.
21 October - An underwater oil pipeline connecting the Ekofisk field in the North Sea to the British oil terminal at Teeside was inaugurated.
December – The number of MotelAgips rose to 49.
