January – Agip began oil exploration operations in Oman.
28 January - Agip Zambia Ltd. was set up in Lusaka for the distribution of petroleum products.
17 March – An agreement was signed between Apex (American Petrofina Exploration Company Inc.) and Agip Petroleum co., for the exploration of oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico.
14 April – The 1963 agreement between Sojuzneftexport and Anic for Russian crude oil was ratified.
22 June – The Kifuku barge owned by Socir, Société congo-italienne de raffinage, was launched.
28 July – An agreement for scientific and technical cooperation between the Italian Republic and the government of Malta was signed in Malta.
