15 March – An agreement was signed at Buenos Aires between Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales, Agip Spa and Anic for refining and distributing petroleum products.
21 March – An agreement was signed between Agip Mineraria and the Nigerian government for the exploration and production of oil in the country.
4 May – The Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd. was set up in Lagos for exploration and development of hydrocarbon deposits.
31 May – The Pignone Sud complex was inaugurated at Bari.
